Rec firm wins over £100m in prison contracts

Staffline, who it was recently reported would break the £1bn turnover mark, has been awarded prison contracts worth almost £105m – Insider Media Limited reports.

The company has announced that its PeoplePlus division has been successful in the latest round of Prison Education tenders, securing contracts worth a total of £104.6m over a four-year period.

Chief Executive Chris Pullen said: "Growing our presence in prison education is a key strategic priority for our PeoplePlus division, and I am delighted that we have managed to exceed the target that we set at the interims.

"This strong performance is underpinned by our innovative proposition and demonstrates our continued success in transitioning PeoplePlus into the UK's leading skills and training provider."

The news comes days after Staffline announced that its 2018 revenues are expected to be around 18% higher than the £957.8million reported for 2017. This puts the firm on track to reach a massive £1billion turnover this year, according to reporting from Proactive Investors.

In a statement, Staffline said: “The PeoplePlus division has now successfully transitioned into the UK’s leading skills and training provider, making good progress in the year.

"The apprenticeship levy continues to present an excellent opportunity for growth in this area, and, along with Prison Education contract wins, is offsetting the reduced activity from the run-off of the Work Programme.”
