World-first as employer offers to store staff stem cells

Biotechnology company Precious Cells is offering a workplace benefit like no other: all members of their workforce will have the chance to have their, and their loved ones, stem cells cryogenically stored for free in a benefits package called Accellerate.

The package was designed with the specific intention of helping the firm reach their vision of connecting seven billion potential stem cell donors.

The scheme has been offered to staff first to make them feel valued, and to retain, recruit and motivate the best talent in a sector where traditional benefits no longer give competitive advantage.

Rachel Bowman, an employee there, has this to say on the offer: “I am very pleased! It is a fantastic and potentially lifesaving service. To be offered the service not only to me but my loved ones is heartening.

“It definitely makes me feel valued. They are thinking of their staff wellbeing and also their staff’s families.”

Alison King, Director at Bespoke HR, adds: “In today’s environment, employers are increasingly having to think outside the box when it comes to attracting, recruiting and retaining the right talent for their business. It really is quite refreshing to see something as innovative as this on the market.”
