Performance management 'has become a giant soul-sucking parasite'

Performance management is like a Swiss army knife, according to Professor Nick Holley. He is the Co-Director of the Centre of HR Excellence at Henley Business School. Speaking exclusively to HR Grapevine, Holley asks how many people have actually used all tools on their Swiss army knives.

“When I ask this question, the answer I usually get is one or two,” he says. “There is a danger that performance management has become the Swiss army knife of HR, packed full of more and more features, added on by different members of the HR team that no one uses.
