Sytner Mercedes Benz receives no applicants to £15k apprenticeship

A sales apprenticeship for a Sytner Mercedes Benz showroom in Newbury hasn’t received a single application since it was advertised in mid-July.

According to Newbury Today the full-time role is open to anyone between the ages of 18-24 years old and offers £15,000 per annum – in addition to a bonus upon completing the two-year course. However, despite the offering, no one has applied.

The apprenticeship, offered through training provider Remit, was advertised on the National Apprenticeship Website and at local job and community centres.

Mick Pilling, Recruitment Director, Remit, says: “We are a bit bewildered as to why we are not getting applicants for this position in Newbury. In other parts of the country these apprenticeships attract large numbers.”

In contrast, HR Grapevine’s very own recruitment for an intern resulted in over 100 applicants in less than a week. The role, advertised on Journalism.co.uk and Gorkana Jobs, offered two candidates a six-month paid internship as part of the editorial team in Welwyn Garden City.

Anna Weston, Managing Director, Executive Grapevine – the publishing house of HR Grapevine, says: “We were inundated with responses from so many young and talented journalists. After receiving so many applications in such a short space of time, we had to take down the job post.”
